Chamber calls on local business to embrace Adani
and Downer Mining.
The Emerald Chamber of Commerce has called on local business
owners to seek new opportunities with Adani and Downer Mining.
Emerald Chamber of Commerce President, Victor Cominos said the
local Council and business owners should eagerly pursue Adani and Downer Mining
now that the State Government has announced that three mining leases have been approved
for the Carmichael Mine site over the weekend.
The Emerald Chamber of Commerce has been promoting the local
area since its founding in 1965.
“The Chamber has been championing the eventual opening of
the Galilee Basin for a number of years as it did other coal mines in the past
50 years," he said.
“Emerald has more than adequate infrastructure to provide
services during the construction period and thereafter at Carmichael Coal Mine
site.
We need to be forever alert as with Adani there will be a huge
jobs spinoff from the seven-year construction project.”
"Emerald has an oversupply of accommodation and people
seeking employment who are ready and able to assist to get these new and
exciting mining projects underway," Mr. Cominos said.
“Emerald has been the hub of the Central Highlands for many
years, all roads lead to Emerald”
“We most certainly welcome the $21.7 billion project in the
north of the Galilee Basin, and north-west of Emerald," Mr. Cominos said.
